In the summer of 2009, and every other year after that, the Center will continue to offer intensive simultaneous and consecutive interpreting training in Mandarin-English, Japanese-English, and Korean-English. If we have enough inquiries, other language combinations can also be offered.

Other interpretation and translation courses are being offered during the regular school year that are NOT language-specific and do NOT require an entrance test (unless specified). Most of these courses are offered in the late afternoon or evening

- TI 401 Principles of Translation (3 credits) (fulfills WI requirement)

A skills-focused course on concentration, note-taking, and public speaking skills for simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, and sight translation.

Enrollment

NON-UH STUDENTS:
If you are NOT currently a UH student, you can register for CITS courses by mail (or in-person) by calling the Outreach College Office: 956-8400. You need to get the CRN (Course Registration Number) and Section number for the courses from us before registering.

UH STUDENTS:
Anyone enrolled at the University of Hawaii may take CITS courses. You must enroll at UH as a classified or unclassified (non-major) student by May 1 to take Fall semester courses, and by November 1 to take Spring semester courses. Most of our courses are offered in the late afternoon or evening. Please write directly to the Admissions office of UH for admissions requirements.
