The first stop for members of the fanyi-l mailing list, and anyone interested or involved in
Chinese-to-English and/or English-to-Chinese
translation-interpretation in general.

Fanyi-l is here!

Jeffrey J. Hayden has recently completed Phase I of the Fanyi-l mailing list home page. Included is a links page, gleaned from Fanyi-l traffic going back to the list's beginnings in 1998 (based on Jeffrey J. Hayden's personal text archives). The page includes links to personal pages, resumes, online dictionaries, and translation- interpretation organizations, among many others. If you are looking for something related to Chinese-English or English-Chinese translation- interpretation, the links page may be a good place to start your search.

About Fanyi-l

The Fanyi-l mailing list is an open mailing list serving professional, semi-professional, and lay Chinese-English and/or English-Chinese translators and interpreters. It was started in April 1998 by Sue Zeng and Jung Ying Lu-Chen, who are the primary list owners. Comments, questions, and suggestions regarding the list may be sent to either of them. Early in 2001, Jeffrey J. Hayden joined the team of list co-owners/administrators.

Fanyi-l Member Personal Pages
Fanyi-l is hosting about 215 members, so sending a job offer, posting your personal home page URL, or submitting a text-formatted resume or your resume's URL to the mailing list is a very effective way to announce the need or availability of a Chinese-English and/or English-Chinese translator-interpreter.

Fanyi-l FAQ

The Fanyi-l FAQ
The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page contains useful information to Chinese translators, or users of Chinese in general, including information on how to unsubscribe, encoding conventions, and several other Qs and As, as well as the Common Topics feature highlighting questions periodically asked by list members. The list is fairly straightforward, but by all means check it out.
